Hi Y’all!
I know this post is A LONG TIME overdue but I am going to finally share all the details about our PREGNANCY! Wooo!
First, I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that congratulated us and sent us sweet messages. We couldn’t be more excited to continue to grow our family and for Mela to have a sibling!
So let’s just dive right in – I found out I was pregnant back in June. We had been trying for a few months and I was a few days away from the date I was due to get my period. I will never forget the feeling I got when I was laying in bed and I had a strong feeling that I needed to take a pregnancy test. I prayed, “God, is this what you want me to do? Now? I’m not supposed to get my period for a few more days…” I continued to feel strongly about it so I said “why not?”. I remember just staring at the test when the two little lines popped up. I immediately started balling and was just saying, “thank you, God” out loud. Brad wasn’t home at the time and I remember thinking I can’t wait any longer to tell him!
When he finally arrived home, I had a gift waiting for him with the pregnancy test inside. He asked what it was for and I just said for being a great husband and dad. He had NO CLUE! haha. He opened it and the first words to come out of his mouth were, “are you kidding!?!?” He was so shocked but so happy. We then told our parents that night and our close friends shortly after.
The next few weeks were pretty easy and I wasn’t feeling any symptoms until around week nine when they hit – and they hit hard! I was nauseous all the time and exhausted. I wasn’t throwing up but I just felt sick all day long. That lasted for about three months. I swear I woke up at month three and my symptoms magically disappeared! Since then it has been pretty smooth sailing. My first pregnancy was really hard – to the point where I had to quit my job and couldn’t drive because of passing out all the time – so when I got pregnant again I was terrified I would go through the same, but it hasn’t happened thus far. Everyone told me that every pregnancy is different and they were right! This pregnancy has been so much easier than my first.
When we tell Mela that Mommy is pregnant she will point to my belly and say “baby” and will kiss my belly. I don’t think she fully comprehends what is going on but she will soon enough!
I am due in March of 2019 and we are so excited to become a family of four!
Thank you again for all the congrats and sweet messages!
Xoxo,
Elissa
